Welcome
January is passing quickly and we are already over halfway through. Things are starting to happen here in Maxwell. Gloria is taking names for people who would like to be part of a bible study group or two. The flower rota is changing and we have brand new planters ready for the gardeners.
Castle Cafe is starting up on Thursday where we can meet for fellowship and fun.
The following is well worth reading.
Thanks to Sheona for passing on the above.
Hope you enjoy the magazine.
Denise

Bible Study
We are keen to start up our bible study groups again. A few people have indicated they are willing to be part of a group and more would be welcome.
There is no set format yet as it will depend upon numbers. We may well have separate groups for men and women.
Please give your name to Gloria if you are interested
Flowers
For over 50 years, Heather Russell has been organising the church flowers and now feels that it is time to hand over this task.
To simplify the process, it has been decided to change the way it is done. A new noticeboard is in the process of being purchased and will be placed at a suitable location in the church where the flower rota can be accessed.
Please:-
1. Choose a date - and put your name (and phone number) on the rota.
2. Buy your own flowers.
3. Bring them to church on your date just before the service begins (say, 10am to 10.15am)
4. Place the flowers in the vase provided on the chancel (no actual flower arranging is required)
5. At the end of the service, collect the flowers and deliver them to someone.
This does not have to be a member of Maxwell - perhaps a friend or neighbour in need of a friendly gesture.
The contact for the rota is Liz Gillis - contact details in the Church Directory or speak to Liz on Sunday.
Castle Cafe
We are pleased to inform you all that the Castle Cafe will begin on Thursday the 25th of January in the West Room at 2.00pm and every Thursday thereafter until Thursday 30th of May.
Everyone is welcome.
Anyone who is interested in helping with the Castle Cafe would they please contact Norman.
We hope to have a variety of speakers each week on various subjects, quizzes with relatively easy questions and prizes for winners, along with tea, coffee, biscuits and, most importantly, chat.
The Rev. Mike Gargrave has kindly agreed to join us for the first gathering of this new venture.

Planters
The planters have been made and delivered to us.
They are being stored in the garage. They are very heavy and may need to be moved in the back of a car once the "gardeners" have decided to plant them up. Each planter requires a couple of strong people to manoeuvre them.
If anyone has any further questions please speak to Allan or Denise.
Tea and Coffee
This will be served after the service. It would be a huge help if folk would bring their own cup as it makes us greener and saves the church finances. If you are able please add your name to the list of people on the rota. Biscuits will usually be offered; with home baking on special occasions only.

Concert
Christine Maddock has asked us to advertise this concert at her former church.
Maxwell Pray Now Group
Pray Now is a WhatsApp group for Maxwell members |
|
This group sends out occasional requests for prayer. In particular those which might be regarding things more acute or immediate. At present there are 17 of us who, when we receive a request for prayer, stop what we are doing and pray for whatever has been asked.
Are you on the Pray Now WhatsApp Group? If you want to be added to the group to receive prayer news then simply ask Denise and she will add your number to the list.
If you have a matter that you would like to be prayed about in this way, you can contact Denise and she will organise for news to be sent out.
